April was dominated by a single video game, books and some video essays. I expect this to be the norm going forward.
I’ll start off with the books, I read three books in April – starting the month off with the massive Palo Alto by Malcolm Harris and then moving into some lighter fiction with The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna and then closing out the month with The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff.
One video game dominated the month, Horizon Forbidden West and its associated DLC Burning Shores which took me 90ish hours of play to finish. I definitely had a great time playing it and you can read my review of it here.
I watched a video essay about hip-hop “industry plants” from F.D Signifier along with several videos from a video creator I hadn’t watched before Olurinatti. One about Texas Governor Greg Abbott and another about NYC mayor Eric Adams.
As far as music goes, I am still listening to a lot of KEXP, notable new releases I’ve been vibing with this month include Utada Hikaru’s SCIENCE FICTION and Justice’s Hyperdrama.
I didn’t get around to watching a movie this month, partially because Horizon Forbidden West took up a lot of time on weekends but mostly because I didn’t want to. It seems this particular aspect of the Combined Media Challenge is proving to be more of a challenge than the others. We’ll see how next month goes but I expect to call it quits on the movie aspect of the challenge. Ah well.
That’s all from me this month, see y’all later!
