Media Diet – January 2024

Starting off the year strong with a variety of media in my media diet! As per the requirements of the Combined Media Challenge I have read at least one book, watched at least one movie and played at least one video game this month. In addition to that I also watched some new video essays.

You can find last month’s media diet post here.

I read four books this month, starting off with The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams, and then getting into the Emily Wilde series by Heather Fawcett by reading Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries and Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands. Closing out the month with some scifi, A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers. I have already started the next book in Becky’s Wayfarer series but that will be counted for next month.

Speaking of reading, I also read a fair amount of online articles and essays, see the reading lists from this month:

I watched two movies this month, The Quiet Girl (2022) and Only Yesterday (1991) both of which were quite good. I want to up the number of movies in February to four.

I played one video game this month, Alan Wake 2. Starting off the year strong as far as video games go, that one is definitely going on my 2024 GOTY list. I have started another video game this past weekend, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, I expect to finish that sometime in February and that will count for next month’s post.

I watched three new video essays, I am just going to embed them below.
