This has not been a good year for video games. It might look like it on the surface–some great games have been released, and industry mouthpieces will try to tell you everything is wonderful while pointing to commercials and cinematic trailers–but the truth is that 2023 has been defined by one thing: massive, industry-wide layoffs, at a scale I don’t remember seeing even at the height of the global recessions in 2008.

Fuck Captchas

I am so tired of finding cars, crosswalks, traffic lights, bicycles, motorcycles, stairs, and whatever the fuck else Google wants me to find in their reCaptcha system. As part of my day job I find myself “solving” these blighted fucking things far too often, and every time I have to I get that twitch in left eye that I get when I’m annoyed.

Fuck Google, fuck captchas and fuck doing free labour for Google. No, the hCaptcha equivalent isn’t better, its just not owned by Google.
