packetcat reads 2022 Week 5 – The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Pages: 391
Purchased from: Kobo

I’m not one to usually read romance novels but I thought this book’s combination of romance and fantasy was intriguing. A sort of Pride & Prejudice but with telekinesis. I am happy to say I really enjoyed it. The romance, the drama, the angst, the love poetry, the tension. It’s all so good!

I have added one of Silvia’s other books Mexican Gothic to my wishlist, I will get to it eventually.

packetcat reads 2022 Week 4 – Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse

Pages: 326

I read the first book in this series a long time ago, I am not sure why I didn’t get around to reading the second book but boy howdy am I glad I finally did.

This is a wonderful little story about friendship and found family. Also there is a immortal (?) cat. I honestly don’t remember the contents of the first book but I didn’t need to. I am quickly becoming a Rebecca Roanhorse fan, especially after reading Black Sun.

Looking forward to reading the second book in that particular series when it comes out in April 2022!

packetcat reads 2022 Week 3 – Noor by Nnedi Okorafor

Pages: 229
Purchased from: Kobo

A wonderful trip through sci-fi Nigeria with a tale about transhumanism, corporate malfeasance, living through turbulent climates (quite literally) and last but not least of all, a story about finding your own power and using it to enact positive change in the world.

Fantastic, I am looking forward to reading more by Nnedi Okorafor in the future!
