A Transition

After many years of using asininetech.com as my primary blogging presence on the internet I have decided to change domains to a new one that I think represents me more nowadays.

After months of choice paralysis on what domain should be the new one, I settled on nullrouted.space as the one I wanted to use. I would also like to thank the fediverse for their assistance with my choice!

A new year is almost upon us which to me is a perfect time to make a change like this one.

So without further ado, presenting Nullrouted Space!

For those of y’all who have this site in your feed reader (thank you!), please update your feed reader with the new domain. I have added a all-encompassing redirect from asininetech.com to nullrouted.space so things should work even if you don’t but I recommend updating. The redirect is mostly for things like search URLs and links elsewhere that have the old domain in them.

This is also the first part of the transition to this new domain. The second stage of this will involve a redesign of this site with a fresh new look. That however will take some more time to get going so for now I wanted to get the first stage of the domain name change done.

Pause and Focus

Going forward, I am putting a pause to the weekly “Things I have read” and the monthly Bandcamp picks posts.

For the first one, I feel like it works out better to share things I’ve read as I read them on my micro-blog instead of collecting them in a list to post at the end of each week. That format sometimes also leads to me reading things just so I can put them on the list instead of something I genuinely enjoyed reading.

As for the second one, I underestimated just how much time and energy it requires to actually do music discovery on Bandcamp on a regular basis. These days, I simply don’t have the requisite time and mental energy to go through music and pick out things I like every month.

So going forward, this blog is going to focus more on longer form posts that are way too long for my micro-blog.

New Year, New Beginnings

Here we go again. I decided to archive the old AT and start over fresh. Yes, I went back to WordPress. Yes, I know how much it sucks, how much PHP sucks, etcetera. Few things I’m doing different from last time:

  • WordPress is installed and updated from SVN. I’m not letting it update itself.
  • No unnecessary plugins installed.
  • Comments are disabled. If you really really need to give me your opinion on a post, please hit me up on Twitter.
  • No multiuser usage this time. Thanks to everyone who wrote for the old AT but for now I have decided to keep this blog strictly me.

Here is to another eventful year, filled with posts about everything and nothing.
